Azzam speaks out

Al Qaeda’s Jewish-American spokesman says Iraq pullout will do nothing to stop attacks

Update: It would appear that Mr. Gadahn-Pearlman has not lost all sense; rumor has it that upon his original defection, he was asked by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to take part in a Maryland terror plot - as a suicide bomber. He politely declined, and agreed to be AQ's spokesman instead. Now that's a clever move.

“Azzam the American,” the face of al Qaeda to the West (and the former Adam Yehiye Gadahn, of Orange County, CA), released a new video last week in which he listed AQ’s “Legitimate demands” for the United States and the Bush Administration.

“This is not a call for negotiations. We don’t negotiate with baby killers and war criminals like you,” said the representative of baby killers and war criminals in his opening statement. “No, these are legitimate demands which must be met.”

After this contradictory beginning, Gadahn launched into his Democrat Party al Qaeda talking points, saying:

Bush. You thought you would be remembered by history as the President who waged a series of successful Crusades against the Muslims. Instead, you will go down in history not only as the president who embroiled his nation in a series of unwinnable and bloody conflicts in the Islamic world but as the President who sent the United States off on its death march towards breakdown and disintegration.
“Azzam the American” then ridiculed the “colossal failure” of Bush’s “Global Crusade,” inexplicably comparing him to what he called Bush’s “fellow bloodthirsty nation destroying crusaders Milosovich and Yeltsin,” and saying:
You may or may not be aware of it but today, nearly four years after you hastily declared victory in Iraq, and more than five and a half years after you fell into the Afghanistan trap, things aren’t going too well for your Crusader Coalition. In fact, things are going really bad.
“In other words,” said Gadahn, slipping into the colloquial speech of his old, familiar native language – English – “you’re losing on all fronts and losing big time.”

Read on to see AQ's "Six Legitimate Demands" . . .

“Bush,” he continued, “the die has been cast and the blood has been spilled and there is no way to undo what you have done. There are, however, some steps you can take to curtail your losses and prevent the number of American casualties at home and abroad from rising even higher.”

From here, Gadahn began to list the Six Legitimate Demands of al Qaeda on President Bush and on the United States of America. “I strongly suggest you heed and implement them for your own good and the good of your people,” he warned, adding that failure “to comply in full” with any of them would be deemed “sufficient justification to continue to fight and kill Americans.”

The demands:
One, pull every last one of soldiers, spies, security advisors, trainers, attaches, and so on out of every Muslim land from Afghanistan to Zanzibar. Should so much as one single American soldier or spy remain on Islamic soil, it shall be considered sufficient justification for us to continue our defensive jihad against your nation and people.
Note here that Gadahn makes no differentiation between who would be “acceptable” Americans, and who would be counted as a “spy” if found “on Islamic soil.” Given AQ’s history, it seems reasonable to infer not only that any representative of the U.S. government found “on Islamic soil” would be counted as a “spy,” but also that any non-fundamentalist Muslim private citizens would be, as well.
Two, stop all support and aid - military, political, economic, or otherwise – to the fifty-six plus apostate regimes of the Muslim world and abandon them to their well-deserved fate at the hands of the soldiers of Islam. Should you fail to comply in full we will deem it sufficient justification to continue to fight and kill Americans.
This appears to include every state in the Muslim world; apparently, according to AQ’s official spokesman, every single “regime” in “the Muslim world” is an “apostate regime,” and the citizens of every single one deserve to be slaughtered, in the name of Allah, by these inhuman enemies of civilization.
Three, end all support, moral, military, economic, political, or otherwise to the bastard state of Israel and ban your citizens, Zionist Jews, Zionist Christians, and the rest from traveling to the occupied Palestine or settling there. Even one penny of aid will be considered sufficient justification to continue the fight.

While hardly unexpected (what fundamentalist Muslim stating demands doesn’t call for the abandonment of “the bastard state of Israel” to its fate at the hands of the barbarians at its gates), this point does offer an unusual bit of irony in the form of the “Zionist Jew”-hating al Qaeda spokesman himself. Gadahn is the son of hippies from California – hippies who changed their name during the height of the “flower-power” revolution for the purpose of hiding their real ancestry. You see, Adam Yehiye Gadahn – also known as “Azzam the American,” virulently anti-Israel, anti-American, and anti-Jewish spokesman for al Qaeda – is Jewish himself. He was born Adam Pearlman, and grew up on his parents’ plantation, living a life in harmony with the earth (when he was not reviewing “death metal” records for a monthly publication).

In fact, it can be argued that Gadahn/Pearlman/"Azzam" is simply an ordinary, every-day radical anti-Bush, "anti-war" leftist who just took his protest to the next level. It is a very chilling thought, but the difference between those who call for the massacre of US troops, and who call Bush the same as (or worse than) Saddam and the Taliban, are, in actuality, only different than John Walker Lindh and Adam Pearlman by a matter of degrees. Those degrees mainly encompass the fact that the latter were actually willing to put their money where their mouths were.

Regarding Pearlman/Gadahn's Jewish heritage, though, one can only wonder if this fact is known to his current “comrades” and employers, or if it is a deep, dark secret being kept in the closet for fear of meeting the same fate as a similarly-named American called Daniel Pearl.

Now, the second half of the demands:
Four, cease all interference in the religion, society, politics, and governments of the Muslim world and leave us alone to establish the Islamic Shura State which will unite the Muslims of earth in truth and justice. A single word of American protest shall be silenced by a thousand Islamic bombs.
“A single word of American protest shall be silenced by a thousand Islamic bombs”? That is quite a threat indeed – in fact, such a threat highlights the difference, for those who do not choose not to see it, between the anti-civilization, anti-freedom savages of the Islamic fundamentalist movement, and the current American government, which is often accused by the fringe Left of being their equal. How many bombs have “silenced” protestors in America? For all of the anti-war, anti-Bush movement’s complaining that their voices are being “silenced” by an administration that has “stripped them of rights,” their “silenced” voices sure are loud.
Five, put an end to all forms of interference in the educational curricula and information media in the Islamic world and impose a blanket ban on all broadcasts to our region, especially those designed to alter or destroy the faith, minds, morals, and values of our people.
In other words, do nothing which would interfere with our ability to completely control those whom we choose to let live, from the cradle to the grave, from what information they can access to what they think about everything.
And six, free all Muslim captives from your prisons, detention facilities, and concentration camps regardless of whether they have been recipients of what you call a fair trial or not. Your refusal to release them will mean the continuation of our just struggle against your tyranny until the last kidnapped Muslim has been liberated.
Can you imagine the rush to convert to Islam by every prisoner in our jails if this were actually taken seriously? I know that I would convert immediately if I knew that Muslims and only Muslims were to be released, no questions asked.

“This is not a call for negotiations. We don’t negotiate with baby killers and war criminals like you,” the spokesman for baby killers and war criminals reiterated in conclusion.
No, these are legitimate demands which must be met. And your failure to heed our demands and the demands of reason means that you and your people will – Allah willing – experience things which will make you forget all about the horrors of September 11th, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Virginia Tech.
Where Virginia Tech plays into this is anyone’s guess, although one could look at the lack of successful al Qaeda-sponsored attacks in the continental United States since September 11, 2001 and infer that Gadahn, seeking to threaten us in a way that would strike a hopefully-still-raw nerve, was forced to resort to using an attack which had nothing to do with his terrorist organization in order to find something recent enough to achieve even remotely close to the desired effect.

These demands are very telling, and reinforce without a doubt the fact that al Qaeda and their ilk desire nothing more than to bring the civilized world under their brutal, totalitarian, anti-civilization rule. From there, who knows how far they will go.

The argument given by so many virulently anti-Bush, anti-Iraqi freedom people for just why it is that these radical Islamists hate us so much usually centers on the Iraq war. “If we give up our occupation of Iraq,” it is often said by such prominent figures as Jack Murtha (D-PA) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), “then they will stop trying to attack us.”

Like they clearly have done, let us forget for a moment that both attacks on the World Trade Center, the attack on the Khobar Towers, the African embassy bombings, and the USS Cole all came well before we invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003. In the context of Gadahn’s speech, that fact is immaterial, for he gives the perfect response to those who claim that the war in Iraq is the key reason for the threat of Islamic terror that we face.

In the words of the Jewish-American al Qaeda spokesman himself, Adam Pearlman:
And let us be clear. A pull-out from Iraq alone in the absence of compliance with the remainder of our legitimate demands will get you nowhere and will not save you from our strikes.

This year, next year, the year after that, and so on, until the last Crusader goes home whether waving a white flag or lying in a flag covered casket.
I think that says it all.
