An historical perspective of Iraq
Those who know me know that I'm not the biggest fan of the History Channel's ancient historical programming (they tend not to let accurate details get in the way of their overall story - although I did think that "Last Stand of the 300" was exceptionally well done).
However, I saw a pretty good special yesterday entitled "The Kings: From Babylon to Baghdad," which was a nice, 2-hour overview of Mesopotamia and the surrounding areas and the dictatorial dynamic from Sargon the Great (ca. 2400 BC) to Saddam. For those unfamiliar with the rich, intriguing history of the area, it's definitely worth seeing (though the reenactments are pretty awful even by History Channel standards), and recommended.
